Hybrid Mobs takes creatures you already know and fuses them in pairs. Eighteen of these crossbreeds exist, each one modeled and textured from scratch rather than stitched together from vanilla parts, and each with its own spawn egg carrying matching colors.
Some pairings are harmless curiosities. A cow crossed with a sheep is exactly as alarming as it sounds, which is to say not at all. Others are not. An iron golem fused with a warden, a bee carrying creeper genes, an axolotl crossed with a guardian and a horse that borrowed its skeleton from a phantom all belong to a list you would rather not meet unprepared.
Nothing here is restricted to spawn eggs. The hybrids turn up naturally in habitats that suit their parents, which means the Overworld, the Nether and the End all have residents of their own.
They appear in small clusters, with limits on how many can crowd one area, so a biome never fills up with nothing else. Existing mob populations push against them too, which affects how often you actually run into one.
Mob spawning has to be on, and the usual rules apply from there. Surface animals need light to appear, the hostile ones want darkness, and those will not spawn at all unless the difficulty sits at Easy or above.
Water hybrids stay in water, the Nether ones never leave the Nether, and at least one of them belongs to the End and nowhere else. Behavior varies as much as habitat does, since some wander past without noticing you, some only react if provoked, and some come straight for you.
