Tornado: Survival Challenge drops a natural disaster into an otherwise ordinary world. You go about your usual routine, and at some point a tornado spins up on its own with nothing announcing it beforehand, which turns a quiet mining trip or a building session into something you have to deal with right now.
The event fires at a range of strengths rather than always showing up as the same storm. One of them might be a smaller funnel that passes through and moves on, while the next sits at the extreme end of the scale. Since the roll happens without your input, you find out what you are dealing with only once it is already on the horizon.
Entities that get caught in the pull are lifted off the ground and carried into the air, so mobs near the funnel stop behaving like a normal threat and become part of the storm instead. The tornado itself runs on custom particles and animation, with storm effects in the surrounding weather so the sky changes along with it.
The appeal of the pack sits in that lack of warning. A survival world stops being something you can plan around in long uninterrupted stretches, since any session can be cut in half by a funnel that was not there a minute earlier.
